Founded in Phoenix, Arizona, by Holland Desmarchais, Rooted by Design began as a family project inspired by the garden she grew up tending with her dad. What started as a way to teach her four children where food comes from quickly became something bigger — a mission to help families discover the same sense of wonder, beauty, and togetherness that gardening brings.

Today, Rooted by Design combines years of hands-on gardening experience in the desert with a deep love of design, education, and storytelling. Through guides, resources, and family-centered garden planning, we help families eliminate the overwhelm, start with confidence, and grow spaces that feed both body and soul.
